“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers” (Psalm 1:3).
A tree with roots in the riverbank will be evergreen. The leaves are green, the branches are strong, the trunk is solid, and the roots are deep. Similarly, a person who desires to live a spiritually vibrant life will choose two key things.
1. They will select the right location. They will realise that the best place to be is where all the resources for living are found in abundance.
2. They will be a “planted” person. They will take root and reach out to the life that is on offer.
Psalm 1 is all about choices. It highlights the importance of making the right decisions. What we decide has an effect on the life we live. Everyday we face decisions but if we daily plant ourselves in the will of God we will be fruitful.
